George Luste
1940-2015
George Luste, a pillar of the Wilderness Canoe Association and founder of the Canoeing & Wilderness Symposium died at his home on Toronto on Saturday, March 21st. A celebration of George’s life will take place on Saturday,11 April, between 1:30pm-4pm at the University of Toronto Faculty Club, 41 Willcocks Street, Toronto, M5S 1C7. Brief remarks will be made around 2:15pm. Please come, view photos and reminisce. This event will be informal. Those that knew George would know that he would say tis is already too much of a fuss!
In the meantime, I invite you to share your memories of George by replying to this email. The idea is to collect them all in one place and publish in a photo journal that will be presented to Linda and family on behalf of all WCA members and Symposium attendees.
I also encourage you to make a donation to the Luste Lecture Fund. This fund was created in recognition of George's immense contribution to wilderness canoeing and in partnership between WCA and CCM. Details on how to contribute are available here.
May he rest in peace and live on in our memories.
