HUMMEL, MONTE –is now President Emeritus of WWF-Canada, where he served as President for 26 years (1978-2004). He was raised in the bush in northwestern Ontario, and worked his way through school as a canoe/fishing guide paddling rivers on the Shield comprising the Arctic watershed of that province. He has also accompanied Alex Hall on a number of trips above tree-line in the NWT and Nunavut. Monte is author of six books, including “Wintergreen: Reflections from Loon Lake,” written in his remote cabin.
